Summary:
We are seeking a Large-Scale Assembly Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in assembling a wide variety of electronic components and systems. Your work will directly contribute to the quality and reliability of our products, from initial assembly to final system testing. This is an entry to intermediate level position for someone looking to grow with Viken detection and take on more responsibility as knowledge is gained.
Responsibilities:
- Performs box build and system level assembly on a variety of components, related to x-ray security scanners.
- Able to reliably travel between various Viken sites within Massachusetts including Burlington, Reading (mileage reimbursed)
- Conduct basic repair including component swaps and minor mechanical changes.
- Proficient with basic computer operations and Microsoft Office software. Able to clearly communicate technical problems, shortages and challenges.
- Follow detailed written assembly instructions and accurately record quality data throughout the process.
- As required, assist in the maintenance of material storage and system shipment activities.

- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure a safe and efficient production environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in an assembly line environment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics
- Familiar with a variety of hand tools, including torque wrenches, crimpers, and wire strippers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, stand for extended period of time, and climb ladders.

Summary
The System Technician is responsible for the assembly, test and general support of large-scale operations. This position requires hands-on experience, a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to follow technical instructions precisely.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test a variety of products from work instructions, wiring diagrams, schematics and verbal direction from management and engineering.
- Able to reliably travel between various Viken sites within Massachusetts including Burlington, Reading and any other local facilities.
- Document worked performed and inspection results.
- Communicate clearly with co-workers and supervision.
- Maintain clean, organized workspace.
- Patience working with delicate components.
- Conduct component troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
Requirements

Viken Detection is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing, highly collaborative engineering team. This role will play a key technical leadership position in the development of next-generation X-ray and chemical detection systems, spanning precision handheld devices to large-scale vehicle and cargo scanning platforms.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead complex mechanical designs, mentor junior engineers, and partner closely with Engineering, Physics, Program Management, and Operations to drive products from concept through full-rate production and sustaining engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical system and subsystem design efforts across multiple product platforms
- Collaborate with Engineering, Physics, and Program Management teams to refine system architecture and requirements
- Drive rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development in a fast-paced R&D environment
- Own mechanical design deliverables including Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, tolerance analyses, and test fixtures
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including early production builds and training manufacturing teams
- Perform and guide sustaining engineering, incorporating production, quality, and field feedback into design improvements
- Apply engineering judgment to designs involving plastics, structural metals, rotating mechanisms, and electromechanical assemblies
- Provide technical mentorship and design guidance to junior mechanical engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in product development environments
- Proven experience designing one or more of the following:
Handheld or portable devices
Electromechanical or robotic systems
Large-scale industrial or scanning equipment
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including:
Molded plastics
Structural components
Mechanical mechanisms
- Experience with SolidWorks or Onshape (preferred)

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for focusing on the challenges of integrating complex systems. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for working across engineering domains and with product management to support new product development and integration. This position requires the application of Systems Engineering principles to support the requirements providing analysis, integration, development, and verification of new and existing products.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
- Working with internal customers, other integrators, and development of CONOPS for the use of products in the field.
- Defining/documenting baseline requirements which may include analysis of customer/systems requirements; CONOPS development; establishing and documenting derived and decomposed requirements for different subsystems and disciplines (EE, ME, Software).
- Enable fast prototyping of new features by owning design, modeling, and implementation.
- Preparation of engineering integration documentation (Test Plans/Descriptions/Procedures)

This role manages all critical documentation, scheduling, and tracking while serving as the central point of contact for all transit matters. Beyond daily operations, this position takes the lead in logistics data analysis, evaluating shipping spend and carrier performance to provide data-driven recommendations that optimize inbound and outbound efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all paperwork for global transit, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and HTS classification to ensure seamless customs clearance.
- Lead the scheduling, tracking, and point-of-contact (POC) duties for all shipments, ensuring real-time visibility for internal and external stakeholders.
- Regularly analyze shipping spend and transit times to identify trends and provide actionable insights for cost reduction.
- Interface directly with freight companies to evaluate service offerings and strengths; provide management with data-backed overviews and recommendations for preferred partners.
- Maintain strict adherence to International Shipping Compliance and Import/Export laws to minimize risk and delays.
- Support the Sales and Purchasing teams by providing accurate, competitive freight quotes based on current market options and service levels.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in logistics, with a mandatory focus on extensive international shipping.
